Affiliates

The affiliate system lets you track sales driven by partners, influencers, or anyone promoting your event on your behalf.

How to Get There

  1. Open your event
  2. Click Affiliates in the left sidebar (under Ticketing & Sales)

Affiliates are created per event and do not carry over between events.

Creating an Affiliate

  1. Click Create Affiliate
  2. Fill in the form:
    • Code (required) — the code used in the tracking link. Letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores only, up to 50 characters. It is automatically upper-cased, or click Generate code to have one made for you
    • Name (required) — not visible to customers, it just helps you identify the affiliate
    • Email (optional) — stored for your reference only. The affiliate is never notified or emailed by Hi.Events
    • Status (required) — Active or Inactive
  3. Save

The tracking link is simply your event page URL with ?aff=CODE appended — there is nothing extra to generate. Send it to the affiliate yourself.

The code cannot be changed after creation. If you need a different code, create a new affiliate.

Active vs Inactive

Only Active affiliates have sales tracked. Setting an affiliate to Inactive does not break their link — the event page still loads normally — but nothing is recorded against them from that point on. Orders already attributed to the affiliate are kept.

Attribution

When someone visits through an affiliate link, the code is stored in their browser and any ticket they buy is credited to that affiliate.

A few things to know:

  • Attribution lasts 30 days. After that the stored code is discarded and the sale is no longer credited
  • It is stored per event, so a visitor can be attributed to different affiliates for different events
  • It lives in the visitor’s browser, so it is lost if they clear their site data or switch browser or device

Tracking

The affiliates table shows each affiliate’s code, name, status and a Performance column containing:

  • Sales — how many orders were attributed to the affiliate
  • Revenue — the gross value of those orders, including taxes and fees

If an attributed order is cancelled, both figures are reduced accordingly.

Managing Affiliates

  • Copy URL on the code cell copies the full tracking link
  • The row menu offers Edit Affiliate, Copy Code, Copy Affiliate Link, Share Affiliate Link and Delete Affiliate
  • Export downloads all affiliates for the event as an Excel spreadsheet

Use Cases

  • Influencer partnerships — give each influencer a unique link to track their impact
  • Sponsor promotions — see how many tickets a sponsor drives
  • Team sales — track which team members are selling the most
  • Media partnerships — measure ROI from different media outlets

Tips

  • Share the tracking link directly — it works like a normal event page link but attributes the sale
  • A purchase made later in a new session still counts, as long as it is within the 30-day window and on the same browser
  • Set an affiliate to Inactive rather than deleting them if you only want to stop tracking new sales
  • Use affiliate data alongside promo code tracking for a complete picture of your marketing performance
