§ 01 · How it works

Three steps to tickets on your website

The Widget Embed page under Integrations generates both snippets for your event. You paste them once; prices and availability update on their own after that.

  1. Add one line to your site head

    Copy the Embed Script from the Widget Embed page in Hi.Events and put it in the head of your site, or in the same block as the widget. It loads async, so it does not hold up your page.

  2. Paste the widget where tickets should appear

    The Embed Code is a div with your event ID and colors already filled in. Paste it into any HTML block, element or section. The widget sizes itself to its content.

  3. Checkout opens over your page

    Buyers pick tickets in the widget and check out in a full-screen modal on top of your page. They never leave your site. Where a modal cannot be shown, checkout opens in a new tab instead.

A free website ticket system for free events

The widget costs nothing, on any plan, because there are no plans. Free tickets are free. Paid tickets are 1.25% + $0.60 each, which you can pass to the buyer at checkout, plus Stripe's card rate of 2.9% + $0.30, charged by Stripe. No monthly fee, no contract.

§ 06 · No scripts?

Or link to your event page

Some plans and some platforms strip script tags. You still get to sell from your site: add a button and point it at your Hi.Events event page.

What the buyer gets

How do I sell tickets on my own website?
Create a free Hi.Events account, add your event and tickets, and open Widget Embed under Integrations. It generates two snippets: a one-line script for your site head and a div for wherever tickets should appear. Paste them into any HTML block on your site. Do I need a plugin, an app or a developer?

Is there a free website ticket system?
Yes, for free events. Hi.Events charges nothing for free tickets, has no monthly fee and no plans. Paid tickets carry a platform fee of 1.25% plus a small fixed amount per ticket, which you can pass to the buyer at checkout, and Stripe charges its standard card rate.See pricing →
Do buyers leave my site to pay?
No. Checkout opens in a full-screen modal over your page, and they are back on your site when it closes. Where a modal cannot be shown, for example inside the iframe that Wix uses for embedded code, the widget opens checkout in a new tab instead. You can force the new tab with data-hievents-checkout="new-tab".
Can I match the widget to my site design?
Yes. Button, background and text colors are attributes on the div, set on the Widget Embed page or edited by hand. The widget auto-resizes to its content. Its language follows the visitor's browser, in the 15+ languages checkout supports.
Do I need to update the embed code when prices change?
No. Ticket types, prices, sale windows and availability come from Hi.Events each time the page loads. You only touch the embed code to change its colors, or to point it at a different event.
How do buyers get their tickets?
By email, in your own template. The ticket email links to the ticket page, where the QR code is, and you can send branded PDF tickets from the ticket designer too. At the door, open a check-in list from a link and scan with a phone camera or a USB scanner.Check-in lists →
Where does the money go?
Card payments settle into your own Stripe account as tickets sell, on your Stripe payout schedule. Hi.Events never holds your money. Free events publish without Stripe; paid tickets need a connected Stripe account.
