Your Profile and Account Settings
Everything about you and your Hi.Events account lives in one Settings area. Personal settings are about you (your profile and how you sign in) and follow you to every account you belong to. Account settings apply to the whole account and everyone on it.
How to Get There
Click your profile icon in the top corner, then:
- My Profile opens your Profile page
- Account Settings opens the account’s General page
Both open the same Settings area, with a menu on the left. Click Back at the top of that menu to return to where you were.
Links to the old account and profile pages still work and take you to the matching page here.
Who Sees What
| Page | Who sees it |
|---|---|
| Profile, Security, API keys | Everyone |
| General, Organizers, Taxes and fees | Members with access to the whole account. Only admins can change the General page |
| Team | Admins |
Members who only have access to specific organizers or events see Profile, Security and API keys only, and Account Settings doesn’t appear in their profile menu.
Personal
Profile
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name | Your first and last name, as your team sees it |
| The address you sign in with. Changing it asks you to confirm it’s you, then sends a confirmation link to the new address. The change only happens once you click that link | |
| Language | The language of your dashboard. The page reloads when you save a new one |
| Timezone | Your own timezone |
| Product updates | Whether we email you about new Hi.Events features |
| New order emails | ”Email me about new orders on the events I can access”. Only shown if you can see financials. It’s set separately in each account you belong to, and only sends once your email address is confirmed |
Click Save changes at the bottom when you’re done. While an email change is waiting for confirmation, the page shows Email change pending with a Cancel email change button. If you didn’t ask for the change, cancel it and change your password straight away.
Security
The Security page covers how you sign in. It applies to every account you belong to.
- Password: click Change password to set a new one. If you sign in without a password, click Email me a link to set a password to add one as a backup
- Google and Microsoft, where they’re offered as sign-in options: click Connect next to either to sign in with that account as well as (or instead of) your password. Click Disconnect to remove it. You can only disconnect a sign-in method if you have another one. Disconnecting signs out your other devices and deletes your API keys
- Two-factor authentication, Recovery codes and Trusted devices: see Two-Factor Authentication
If you’ve signed in through your company’s single sign-on, it’s listed here too. If your company requires it and you don’t have a password, the Password row tells you that you don’t need one.
Account
General
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Account name | The name of your account. You type it to confirm if you ever delete the account |
| Currency | Prefilled when you create an organizer |
| Timezone | Used for dates in account emails, like deletion notices |
Further down the page:
- Single sign-on lets your team sign in with your company’s identity provider. Only admins see it, and only once it has been switched on for your account. See Single Sign-On (SSO)
- Danger zone is where the account owner can delete the account. Other admins see it, but only the owner can request deletion. See Deleting Your Account
Organizers
“Each organizer has its own public page, branding, payouts and event defaults.” This page lists every organizer in the account with its status. Click Open settings to go to an organizer’s settings, or Create organizer to add one. See Configuring Organizer Settings.
Team
Invite people, choose their role and what they can reach, and require two-factor authentication. See Managing Your Team.
API Keys
Create keys that let other tools and your own code use this account as you. Everyone sees this page, and keys only work in the account they were created in. See API Keys and the API Reference.
Taxes and Fees
Rates you can add to products, shared by every organizer and event in the account. See Taxes & Fees.
Tips
- Personal settings follow you: your password, 2FA and connected sign-ins are the same in every Hi.Events account you belong to
- If a setting is greyed out on the General page, ask an admin on your account to change it
- Change your sign-in email in Profile rather than asking an admin. Admins can edit your name (unless you also belong to another Hi.Events account), but not your email
