It started as open source
Hi.Events began as an open-source project. The first release went up on GitHub in May 2024, and the core of it has been public ever since. Hi.Events Cloud came after, for organizers who would rather we ran it for them.
There have been more than 80 releases since, and thousands of organizers now sell tickets with it, from a co-op bookshop and a church Easter event to JuliaCon. Most of what we build comes straight from those organizers telling us what they can't do yet.
We're a small team with no investors. The only people we answer to are the organizers who use Hi.Events, because they're the ones who pay our way. That keeps things simple. If Hi.Events isn't worth the fee, you can leave, and because the core is open source you can run it yourself.
What we want hasn't changed since that first release: good ticketing that any organizer can afford, wherever they are.
