Deleting Your Account
You can permanently delete your Hi.Events account from your account settings. Deletion is self-service, includes a 30-day grace period, and complies with data protection law.
How to Get There
- Click your profile icon and open Account Settings
- Open the Danger Zone tab
The Danger Zone tab is only visible to Admin users — Organizers never see it. Only the account owner can actually request deletion; other Admins see the tab with a note that only the account owner can request account deletion, and no delete button.
Requesting Deletion
- Click Delete account
- Type your account name exactly as shown to confirm — the button stays disabled until it matches
- Optionally add a reason
- Click Permanently delete this account
What Happens When You Request Deletion
- Your account is deactivated immediately. All published events are unpublished and access to the platform is disabled for everyone on the account.
- A 30-day grace period starts. Nothing is permanently deleted during this time.
- After 30 days, deletion is carried out automatically. This cannot be undone.
You’ll receive an email confirming the request, a reminder 7 days before the deletion is carried out, and a final confirmation once it’s complete.
Changing Your Mind
You can cancel the deletion at any time during the 30-day grace period:
- Log in to your account
- Click Cancel deletion on the banner, or go to Account Settings → Danger Zone
Your account is reactivated immediately. Note that your events stay unpublished — republish any events you want to make publicly visible again.
What Gets Deleted
What happens to your data depends on whether your account has completed orders:
- No completed orders — your account and all of its data are permanently deleted.
- Completed orders — all personal information (names, email addresses, checkout answers, waitlist sign-ups, sent messages, and uploaded images) is permanently deleted or irreversibly anonymized. Anonymized transaction records (order amounts, dates, taxes, fees, and invoice details) are retained as required for tax and accounting purposes. These records can no longer be linked to any person.
Attendee and buyer data collected through your events is deleted or anonymized in the same way.
Before You Can Delete
If any of your upcoming events have completed orders, deletion is blocked. You must cancel those events and refund their orders first. Past events with orders don’t block deletion.
Team Members
- Users who only belong to your account are deleted along with it.
- Users who also belong to other accounts keep their login and their other accounts — they only lose access to the deleted account.
