Frequently asked questions about event check-in

Is this event check-in tool really free?
Yes. It runs entirely in your browser, so there is nothing for us to host and nothing to charge for. There is no signup, no payment, and no limit on the number of attendees you can check in.
Is my attendee data private?
Yes. Your list is stored in your own browser using IndexedDB and is never uploaded to our servers, so we never see it. It stays on this device until you choose “Reset everything” or clear your browser’s site data.
Does this check-in tool work offline?
Yes. Once the page has loaded and your attendee list is imported, the tool keeps working without a connection. Check-ins are saved in your browser as you make them, so losing signal at the door does not lose your place.
What CSV formats are supported?
The tool detects common column names for name (first_name, last_name, name, full_name), email (email, email_address) and reference (reference, order_id, ticket_number, booking_ref). Any other columns are kept and included when you export.
Can I export the check-in results?
Yes. The export is a CSV with all of your original columns plus two new ones: checked_in (true or false) and checked_in_at (a timestamp). That makes it easy to reconcile attendance after the event.
How many attendees can I check in?
There is no set limit. The list and search are built to stay fast with thousands of attendees; beyond that it depends on your browser and device.
Can several people check in from different devices?
Not with this tool: each browser keeps its own copy of the list, so two devices will not see each other’s check-ins. For that you need Hi.Events itself, where door staff open a shared check-in list on any phone, scan QR code tickets with the camera, and every device sees the same live counts.How to sell tickets online →

How this event check-in tool works

This free event check-in tool turns a CSV guest list into a searchable door list. Upload your attendees, find anyone by name, email or reference, and tap to check them in or undo it. Progress is saved in your browser as you go, so it keeps working offline, and when the event is over you can export the list with a check-in status and timestamp for every attendee.
