Online Events
You can sell tickets to online events on Hi.Events — webinars, virtual conferences, livestreams, or any event without a physical venue. Attendees receive the connection details after purchasing a ticket.
Marking an Event as Online
- Go to Event Settings
- Open the Location section
- Toggle This is an online event on
When enabled, the venue picker and Custom Maps URL field are hidden and replaced with a Connection Details editor. Click Save to apply the change. An event is either online or in-person — if you switch back to in-person, you’ll pick or enter a venue instead.
Connection Details
Connection details are required for an online event — you cannot save the event with the field empty. Enter the information attendees need to join:
- Zoom, Google Meet, or other video link
- Passcodes or meeting IDs
- Instructions for joining
Connection details are shown to buyers only, in an Online Event Details section on their order summary page (the page linked from the order confirmation email). The standard Hi.Events emails don’t include them, so buyers need to open the order summary to find them.
They are only shown once the order has completed successfully. An order still awaiting offline payment will not see them until you mark it as paid.
Running Something In-Person Too?
There is no combined online-plus-venue mode. If your event has both an in-person and an online audience, the simplest approach is to keep the event in-person (so the venue shows on the event page) and share joining instructions with online ticket holders another way. For example, create a dedicated “Online” ticket type and send its holders the link from Messages. Avoid putting joining links in the ticket description, which is shown publicly on the event page.
For recurring events, individual dates can override the event location. When you edit a date on the Occurrence Schedule page, the Location options are Same as event, Different location and Online, so a series can mix in-person and online sessions. A date marked Online has its own connection details, which are also shown on that attendee’s ticket page and printable ticket.
