Best ticketing platforms for small events

A small event has no budget for a subscription and no time for a sales call, so the questions are short: what each ticket costs when there is no monthly fee, whether free events are free, whether the fee can be passed to the buyer, and how soon the money arrives. These are the platforms people running small events shortlist, with each one's published fee and what it is good at.

Fees and features from each platform's own pricing pages, checked September 2026. We make Hi.Events, so it is listed first and labelled. Every figure for the others is sourced on its comparison page.

§ 03 · FAQ

Choosing a small event ticketing platform

What does each platform cost on a $30 small event ticket?
Counting card processing on every platform, the cheapest on this list in US dollars are TryBooking ($1.69), TicketSource ($2.04), Hi.Events ($2.15), Luma ($2.67). Percentage fees grow with the ticket price and flat fees do not, so the order changes on cheaper and dearer tickets; the table on this page shows every platform in four currencies.
Which small event ticketing platform is cheapest?
It depends on the ticket price and the country. The fixed part of a fee, like the $0.99 in Humanitix's US rate, is a large share of a low-priced ticket and a small share of an expensive one, while a percentage fee like Luma's 5% grows with the price. Zeffy charges nothing, but only registered nonprofits can use it. The fee table on this page shows each platform's all-in cost on the same ticket, including card processing where it is charged on top.
Which platforms are free for free events?
Hi.Events, Eventbrite, Luma, Humanitix, TicketSource and TryBooking all list free events as free, and Zeffy is free for the nonprofits that can use it.
Do I need a marketplace for a small event?
Only if you do not already know who is coming. Eventbrite, Humanitix, TryBooking and Luma list events on their own discovery sites, which can help a new event find people. A small event that sells to its own mailing list, members or friends does not need one, and Hi.Events does not have one.
