Best free event ticketing platforms

Almost every ticketing platform says free events are free. The differences are in the conditions: whether there is an allowance or a cap, who is allowed to use it, what buyers are asked for at checkout, and what a paid ticket costs once you add one. These are the free event ticketing options organizers shortlist, with what free means on each.

Fees and features from each platform's own pricing pages, checked September 2026. We make Hi.Events, so it is listed first and labelled. Every figure for the others is sourced on its comparison page.

§ 03 · FAQ

Choosing a free event ticketing platform

What does each platform cost on a $30 paid ticket?
Counting card processing on every platform, the cheapest on this list in US dollars are Zeffy ($0.00, registered nonprofits only), pretix ($1.92), TicketSource ($2.04), Hi.Events ($2.15). Percentage fees grow with the ticket price and flat fees do not, so the order changes on cheaper and dearer tickets; the table on this page shows every platform in four currencies.
Which event ticketing software is actually free?
For free tickets, most of it. Eventbrite, Luma, Humanitix, TicketSource, Zeffy and Hi.Events do not charge for free tickets, and hosted pretix is free for the first 500 free tickets a year, then €0.50 each. For paid tickets only Zeffy has no platform or card fee at all, and it is open to registered nonprofits only and asks buyers for an optional contribution.
What should I check before choosing a free ticketing platform?
Check four things. Whether there is a cap on free tickets, whether your organization is eligible, whether attendees need an account or an app to open a ticket, and what a paid ticket will cost if you add one later. Luma's 5% cannot be passed to the buyer, while Eventbrite, Humanitix, TicketSource and Hi.Events let you add the fee at checkout.
Is there free event ticketing software I can host myself?
Yes, two platforms on this list are open source. pretix has a free self-hosted Community edition, with seating plans and the point-of-sale app needing a paid Enterprise licence when self-hosting. Hi.Events is open source under the AGPL and self-hosting has no platform fee. In both cases you run and maintain the servers yourself.
