Best ticketing platforms for venues

A venue sells tickets every week, so the choice of platform comes down to a few questions: what the fee adds to every ticket, when the money arrives, whether the room needs a seat map, and whether the platform brings an audience or the venue brings its own. These are the platforms venues shortlist, with each one's published fee and what it is good at.

Fees and features from each platform's own pricing pages, checked September 2026. We make Hi.Events, so it is listed first and labelled. Every figure for the others is sourced on its comparison page.

§ 03 · FAQ

Choosing a venue ticketing platform

What does each platform cost on a $30 ticket?
Counting card processing on every platform, the cheapest on this list in US dollars are pretix ($1.92), TicketSource ($2.04), Hi.Events ($2.15), Universe ($2.29). Percentage fees grow with the ticket price and flat fees do not, so the order changes on cheaper and dearer tickets; the table on this page shows every platform in four currencies.
Which ticketing platform for venues has reserved seating?
Eventbrite, Skiddle, TicketSource and pretix all offer it. pretix needs a paid Enterprise licence for seating plans when you self-host. Hi.Events does not have reserved seating; it sells general admission and tiered tickets, with areas sold as separate ticket types.
Is there an open source venue ticketing system?
Two on this list are open source: pretix and Hi.Events. pretix has a hosted service priced in EUR and a free self-hosted Community edition, where seating plans and the point-of-sale app need a paid licence. Hi.Events is open source under the AGPL license, with a hosted cloud version and a self-hosted option that has no platform fee.
Which venue ticketing platforms pay out before the show?
Platforms that use your own payment account pay as tickets sell: Hi.Events through Stripe and pretix through your own payment provider. Skiddle, TicketSource and Universe do the same if you connect your own Stripe account, and pay out after the event otherwise. DICE and Eventbrite pay out after the event by default.
