Why organizers move to Hi.Events

We’ve used Hi.Events now for a few events and really love it. It’s also been fun to see improvements roll out as we go. We’re definitely never going back to Eventbrite.

§ 03 · Tickets

How simple event ticketing looks for a 40-person event

One event, one capacity of 40 and one or two ticket types. Most of this is optional: a single ticket and a link are enough to go on sale.

  • Standard ticket

A paid ticket, with the fee passed to the buyer at checkout or absorbed into the price.

  • Free places

A free ticket type on the same event. Free tickets cost nothing.

  • Cash and bank transfer

Offline payment with instructions you write, or the attendee added by hand once they have paid you.

  • Dietary or access needs

Registration questions asked at checkout, per ticket type.

  • A full room

A waitlist that offers the spot automatically when one frees up.

  • On the day

The check-in link opened on your own phone, scanning with the camera or searching the list by name.

Check-in

Open a link on your phone. That is the door.

No app to install and no scanner to rent. Scan the QR code on each ticket with your phone camera, or search a name and tap.

  • Guests show the ticket from their email, on a phone or on paper
  • People you added by hand are on the same list
  • Send the same link to a friend on the door, no account needed
  • Undo a check-in in one tap

§ 07 · FAQ

Before you put a small event on sale

How much does a small event ticketing platform cost?
On Hi.Events, free events cost nothing. Paid tickets are 1.25% plus a small fixed amount per ticket: 60¢ in the US, €0.50 in the EU, 45p in the UK and A$0.85 in Australia. There is no monthly fee, no minimum and no contract, so a 40-person event pays the same per ticket as a 4,000-person one. You can pass the fee to the buyer at checkout or absorb it, and Stripe charges its card processing separately.See pricing →
How quickly can I set up online ticketing for a small event?
In minutes. Create the event, add a ticket type, connect a Stripe account if the tickets are paid, publish and share the link. There is no sales call to sit through and no contract to sign, and the event is created as a draft, so nothing is public until you publish it.Creating your first event →
Does simple event ticketing mean a cut-down plan?
No. Every feature ships with every account and there is no higher tier to upgrade to. A small event can use one ticket type and nothing else, and still has promo codes, waitlists, registration questions and reports when it needs them.
Can people pay in cash or by bank transfer?
Yes. Turn on offline payment and write the instructions buyers see, such as bank details or where to pay. The ticket is issued straight away and the order stays marked as awaiting payment until you mark it paid. You can also add an attendee by hand, without an order, once they have paid you.Offline payments →
Do my guests need an app or an account?
No. They check out on your event page, get their ticket by email, and show its QR code on their phone or on paper. There is nothing to download.
Do I need a scanner or special equipment to check people in?
No. Check-in is a link you open in your phone's browser. Scan tickets with the phone camera, or search a name and tap. If someone is helping on the door, send them the same link; they do not need an account.Setting up check-in →
What happens when a small room sells out?
Turn on the waitlist for the ticket. Once it sells out, buyers see a Join Waitlist option on the event page, and with auto-processing on, a spot that frees up is offered to the next person in line. A capacity shared across ticket types stops the room being oversold in the first place.Waitlists →
Will Hi.Events help people find my event?
No. There is no consumer marketplace or app, so Hi.Events will not bring you an audience. You sell from your own event page, your website and your socials. If you need a platform that lists your event to its own users, the comparison of ticketing platforms for small events shows which ones do.Small event ticketing platforms compared →
