5,000+ organizers trust Hi.Events

Dance class booking.
Classes, courses and socials on one page.

Hi.Events is a dance class booking system for teachers, adult dance schools and social dance organizers. There's no monthly fee, just 1.25% + $0.60 per paid place. Pass the fee on and a dancer booking a $15 class pays $1.56 less than on Eventbrite. The money goes into your own Stripe account as places sell.

Selling 800 drop-in classes at $15? You'd keep $1,246 more than on Eventbrite.

The whole week on one page

Beginners at 7pm, improvers at 8pm and the social at 9pm, every Wednesday. Each one has its own label and capacity.

Leads and follows, balanced

Sell separate Lead and Follow tickets with a set number of each on every date, so a class never ends up with ten leads and two follows.

Lower booking fees for dancers

No monthly subscription and a small fee per place, which you can pass on or absorb. A summer break costs you nothing.

§ 01 · Organizers

Why organizers move to Hi.Events

We’ve used Hi.Events now for a few events and really love it. It’s also been fun to see improvements roll out as we go. We’re definitely never going back to Eventbrite.

§ 03 · Tickets

How a weekly salsa night is usually set up

One recurring event holds the weekly night, with a time slot for each level and one for the social. Courses and weekenders each get their own event.

  • Drop-in classes

A recurring schedule with a time slot for each level, labelled "Beginners" or "Improvers", and a capacity for each.

  • The social

Its own time slot after the classes, with its own capacity.

  • Leads and follows

Separate Lead and Follow tickets, each with its own number of places on every date. When one side is full, that ticket sells out.

  • Six-week beginners' course

A course as its own event, with one ticket for all six weeks.

  • Weekenders and festivals

Full passes, party-only passes and workshop passes on one event, with early bird pricing.

  • Walk-ins at the door

The box office on a phone or tablet, taking cash or cards on a Stripe reader.

  • Full classes

A waitlist for each date. When someone cancels, the place is offered to the next person automatically.

Recurring schedules

Describe the week once. Dancers pick their class.

  • Schedules up to 1,200 sessions, with up to 24 time slots a day
  • Change the price, capacity, label or times on any single class
  • Each class has its own capacity and its own waitlist
  • Cancel a date for a holiday and leave the rest as they are

§ 07 · FAQ

Before you open bookings

How much does the dance class booking system cost?
There is no monthly fee and no contract. Free classes cost nothing. Paid places are 1.25% plus a small fixed amount per place: 60¢ in the US, €0.50 in the EU, 45p in the UK and A$0.85 in Australia. You can pass the fee to the dancer or absorb it, and Stripe charges its card processing separately. A term break costs nothing.See pricing →
Can I run several levels and a social on the same night?
Yes. Create a recurring event and add a time slot for each class, labelled "Beginners", "Improvers" or "Social", with up to 24 time slots a day. Each one has its own capacity. Dancers pick a date and a time and book only that class, and you can change the price, capacity or times of any single one.Recurring events →
How do I balance leads and follows?
Sell two tickets, Lead and Follow, and give each one a number of places for every date, such as 12 of each. When one side is full, that ticket sells out on that date and the other keeps selling. Turn on the waitlist and dancers can queue for the side that is full.Registration questions →
Can I sell a course or a weekender pass?
Yes. A course is its own event with one ticket for every week. A weekender is one event with several ticket types, such as a full pass, a party pass and a workshop pass, and tiered pricing so early bird passes go up in price as they sell.Tiered pricing →
Can I take payments at the door?
Yes. The box office opens in a browser on a phone or tablet with a six-digit PIN, and sells places from the same event, taking cash or cards on a Stripe card reader. It needs an internet connection. The box office →
Does it work for a kids' dance school?
Only partly. Hi.Events sells a place on a class or a whole course, paid at checkout. It has no monthly tuition billing, family accounts, memberships or class packs. A school that bills parents each month will need dance studio software for that, and can still use Hi.Events for its shows and summer intensives.Dance class booking platforms compared →
Can dancers book on my own website?
Yes. The booking widget embeds class selection in a page on your own site with two snippets of code, and checkout opens over your page so dancers never leave it. You also get a booking page in your own colours and an organizer page listing everything you run.Embedding the ticket widget →
