Before you switch
How do the fees compare?
TicketSource charges 3.5% + $0.99 in the US, 8.5% (Ireland) in the EU, 7% + VAT in the UK, A$0.99 flat in Australia. Registered charities get a discount. Fees apply to online bookings only; in-person bookings recorded in the dashboard are free. Hi.Events charges 1.25% plus a small fixed amount per paid ticket: 1.25% + $0.60 in the US, 1.25% + €0.50 in the EU, 1.25% + £0.45 in the UK, 1.25% + A$0.85 in Australia, with Stripe's card rate paid separately. TicketSource's fee covers card processing in the US and the EU and the UK but not elsewhere, and the calculator on this page adds Stripe's rate to the Hi.Events side wherever it does. Does Hi.Events have a seating plan like TicketSource?
No. Hi.Events sells general admission, tiered and timed tickets, with capacity shared across ticket types or set per date and per show. If your shows are allocated seating, TicketSource is the better tool for them and this page will not talk you out of it.
Are in-person and box office sales free on Hi.Events too?
Sales you record by hand carry no platform fee: you can add attendees without an order, and you can take offline payment with instructions you write. Card payments through the checkout carry the platform fee and Stripe's rate.
What about TicketSource's charity discount?
TicketSource gives registered charities a discount and Hi.Events has one rate for everyone. On a typical UK ticket our standard rate is still lower, but compare the discounted rate you actually pay in the calculator above.
When do I get paid?
On TicketSource: after the event, sent the following Monday; as tickets sell with your own Stripe account. On Hi.Events you connect your own Stripe account and card payments settle into it as tickets sell, on your Stripe payout schedule. We never hold your money.Connecting Stripe →
Can I move my events over from TicketSource?
Yes, and the usual time to do it is between events. Recreating an event takes a few minutes, then you point your ticket links at the new page. Existing orders stay on TicketSource while new sales run through Hi.Events.
Do attendees need an account or an app?
No. They check out on your event page or in the widget on your own site, get their ticket by email with a link to the ticket page where the QR code is, and you scan it at the door from any phone.
Is Hi.Events really open source?
Yes, under the AGPL licence. Most organizers use the hosted version so they never touch a server, but the code is public and you can self-host it if you prefer.View on GitHub →
