Keep your profit.

Purplepass charges 2.5% + $0.99 per ticket online, adds 3% card processing, and by default pays out the Thursday after your event. On Hi.Events the buyer pays 1.25% + $0.60 per paid ticket at checkout, so it costs you nothing, Stripe's standard rate is your only cost, and card payments settle into your own Stripe account as tickets sell.

Selling 250 tickets at $30? You'd keep $191 more than on Purplepass.

Why organizers move to Hi.Events

We’ve used Hi.Events now for a few events and really love it. It’s also been fun to see improvements roll out as we go. We’re definitely never going back to Eventbrite.

§ 04 · FAQ

Before you switch

How do the fees compare?
Purplepass charges 2.5% + $0.99 in the US, 2.5% + €0.91* in the EU, 2.5% + £0.77* in the UK, 2.5% + A$1.53* in Australia. Non-profits pay 2.0% + $0.99. Box office sales carry no service fee, and card payments at the door cost 2.5% + $0.25 a transaction. Buyers pay the fees by default, and you can absorb or split them. Hi.Events charges 1.25% plus a small fixed amount per paid ticket: 1.25% + $0.60 in the US, 1.25% + €0.50 in the EU, 1.25% + £0.45 in the UK, 1.25% + A$0.85 in Australia, with Stripe's card rate paid separately. Both platforms charge card processing on top of the fee, Purplepass at its own rate and Hi.Events through your own Stripe account, so the calculator compares platform fee against platform fee. Both platforms let you pass the fee to buyers or absorb it.Purplepass fees explained →
Is Hi.Events cheaper than Purplepass?
Online, yes, at every ticket price. On a $25 ticket Purplepass's fee and 3% processing come to $2.37, against $1.94 for Hi.Events plus Stripe's standard rate; on a $100 ticket it is $6.49 against $5.05. Purplepass's non-profit rate of 2.0% + $0.99 is still the higher figure. At the door it is the other way round: Purplepass charges no service fee on box office sales, while paid tickets sold at the Hi.Events box office carry the same platform fee as online ones. If most of your tickets sell on the door, work that into the comparison.
Does Hi.Events have seating and a box office like Purplepass?
Yes. You draw the seat map yourself in a designer, from a theatre, banquet or other template or from scratch, where Purplepass builds the map for you. Buyers pick their seats on the map or take the best available, and the box office sells from the same map, with card payments on a Stripe reader. On Hi.Events Cloud, seating and the box office are switched on by request, at no extra charge.Reserved seating →The Hi.Events box office →
What do I lose by leaving Purplepass?
Free box office sales, as above, and a few things Hi.Events does not do: a team that builds your seat map for you, printed ticket stock and wristbands, an iPad box office terminal with its own card reader and 4G, and a listing on purplepass.com, since Hi.Events has no consumer marketplace. What you gain is a lower fee online, your own branding on the event page, checkout and tickets, and card payments in your own Stripe account as tickets sell rather than the Thursday after the event.
When do I get paid?
On Purplepass: the Thursday after your event by default; as tickets sell if you connect your own PayPal or merchant account. On Hi.Events you connect your own Stripe account and card payments settle into it as tickets sell, on your Stripe payout schedule. We never hold your money.Connecting Stripe →
Can I move my events over from Purplepass?
Yes, and the usual time to do it is between events. Recreating an event takes a few minutes, then you point your ticket links at the new page. Existing orders stay on Purplepass while new sales run through Hi.Events.
Do attendees need an account or an app?
No. They check out on your event page or in the widget on your own site, get their ticket by email with a link to the ticket page where the QR code is, and you scan it at the door from any phone.
Is Hi.Events really open source?
Yes, under the AGPL licence. Most organizers use the hosted version so they never touch a server, but the code is public and you can self-host it if you prefer. Three features are the exception: reserved seating, a box office and company SSO are switched on by request on the hosted version, and need a commercial licence when self-hosted.View on GitHub →
