Billetto charges 3.99% + €0.90 + VAT per ticket and pays you after the event. On Hi.Events the buyer pays 1.25% + €0.50 per paid ticket at checkout, so it costs you nothing, and card payments settle into your own Stripe account as tickets sell.

Selling 250 tickets at €30? You'd keep €130 more than on Billetto.

Why organizers move to Hi.Events

We’ve used Hi.Events now for a few events and really love it. It’s also been fun to see improvements roll out as we go. We’re definitely never going back to Eventbrite.

Illustrative. Billetto's fee is assumed to include card processing and ours does not, so the Hi.Events figure adds Stripe's standard 1.5% + €0.25 per ticket to compare like for like. Self-hosted Hi.Events has no platform fees.

§ 04 · FAQ

Before you switch

How do the fees compare?
Billetto charges 3.99% + €0.90 + VAT in the EU, 3.99% + £0.90 + VAT in the UK. Rates exclude VAT and are rounded up to the nearest 10p or 10c. The euro rate is the same in every euro country Billetto publishes. Billetto's pages do not say whether card processing is inside the fee, so it is treated as included here. Alternative payment methods such as PayPal, Klarna, MobilePay and Swish carry extra organizer fees that cannot be passed to buyers, and tickets sold through Billetto Advertising carry a 33% fee. Organizers selling over 1,000 tickets a year can negotiate a lower rate. Hi.Events charges 1.25% plus a small fixed amount per paid ticket: 1.25% + $0.60 in the US, 1.25% + €0.50 in the EU, 1.25% + £0.45 in the UK, 1.25% + A$0.85 in Australia, with Stripe's card rate paid separately. Billetto does not say whether its fee covers card processing, so the calculator on this page assumes it does, which is the cheaper reading for Billetto, and adds Stripe's standard rate to the Hi.Events side before it compares. Both platforms let you pass the fee to buyers or absorb it.Billetto fees explained →
Is Hi.Events cheaper than Billetto?
Yes, at every ticket price, counting Stripe's card fee on our side and assuming Billetto's fee covers card processing (its pages do not say either way). On a £20 ticket Billetto charges £1.70 plus VAT against £1.20 on Hi.Events, and on a €20 ticket €1.70 plus VAT against €1.30. On a £100 ticket it is £4.90 plus VAT against £3.40. Organizers selling over 1,000 tickets a year can ask Billetto for a lower rate, so compare against any quote you have.
What do I lose by leaving Billetto?
Billetto's marketplace and app, which put your event in front of its buyers, and its pay-per-sale advertising, which costs 33% of each ticket it sells but nothing up front. Hi.Events has no marketplace, so you bring the audience. You also lose local payment methods such as MobilePay, Swish, Vipps and Klarna (Hi.Events takes cards through your own Stripe account), Billetto's memberships and gift cards, and fan resale through TicketSwap.
Does Hi.Events have seating and a box office like Billetto?
Yes. Reserved seating and a box office for door sales are both switched on by request on Hi.Events Cloud, at no extra charge. The box office runs in a browser and takes cards on a Stripe reader, where Billetto pairs its POS with an Adyen terminal and can print tickets at the door.
When do I get paid?
On Billetto: after the event, within five business days; prepayment before the event by separate agreement. On Hi.Events you connect your own Stripe account and card payments settle into it as tickets sell, on your Stripe payout schedule. We never hold your money.Connecting Stripe →
Can I move my events over from Billetto?
Yes, and the usual time to do it is between events. Recreating an event takes a few minutes, then you point your ticket links at the new page. Existing orders stay on Billetto while new sales run through Hi.Events.
Do attendees need an account or an app?
No. They check out on your event page or in the widget on your own site, get their ticket by email with a link to the ticket page where the QR code is, and you scan it at the door from any phone.
Is Hi.Events really open source?
Yes, under the AGPL licence. Most organizers use the hosted version so they never touch a server, but the code is public and you can self-host it if you prefer. Three features are the exception: reserved seating, a box office and company SSO are switched on by request on the hosted version, and need a commercial licence when self-hosted.View on GitHub →
