# Hi.Events > Hi.Events is an open-source event ticketing platform for selling tickets online. Free events are free. Paid tickets cost 1.25% plus a small fixed amount per ticket (60¢ in the US, €0.50 in the EU and Ireland, 45p in the UK, A$0.85 in Australia), with no monthly fee and no contract. Organizers connect their own Stripe account and are paid as tickets sell; Hi.Events never holds the money. Hi.Events is used for concerts, club nights, conferences, festivals, workshops and community events. Organizers get a branded event page, reserved seating on seat maps they design, a box office for door sales, an embeddable checkout for their own website, tiered and early-bird tickets, add-ons, promo codes, tracked links for promoters, registration questions, speaker and artist lineups with an agenda or timetable by room, QR code check-in from any phone, attendee messaging, and CSV reports. Checkout is available in 20 languages. Teams get Admin, Organizer and view-only roles limited to the events each person works on, required two-factor sign-in, single sign-on on request, and a REST API with webhooks. The hosted service runs at app.hi.events; the code is AGPL-licensed and can also be self-hosted, in which case there are no platform fees. Reserved seating and a box office (door sales with Stripe card readers) are in early access on Cloud, switched on by request at no extra charge; self-hosted, they and company single sign-on are included in the platform licence and are a paid add-on to an own-events licence. Google, Microsoft and the operator's own OIDC sign-in are free when self-hosting. ## About Hi.Events is built by Hi.Events Ltd., an Irish company. It focuses on affordable, open-source event ticketing for organizers worldwide. [About Hi.Events](https://hi.events/about). ## Pricing - Free events: no platform fee. - Paid tickets: 1.25% + $0.60 (USD), 1.25% + €0.50 (EUR), 1.25% + £0.45 (GBP), 1.25% + A$0.85 (AUD). The fee can be passed to the buyer at checkout or absorbed by the organizer. Card processing is charged separately by Stripe. - For comparison, as published in September 2026: Eventbrite charges 3.7% + $1.79 (US, plus 2.9% payment processing), 5.9% + €0.79 (Ireland), 6.95% + £0.59 (UK) and 5.35% + A$1.19 (Australia); outside the US its fee includes card processing. Skiddle charges 10% + 27p with a £1 minimum, card processing included, and Fatsoma 10% with a £1 minimum (UK). DICE's default self sign-up rates are 13% in the US (processing included), 8.5% plus a 2.5% transaction fee in the UK and 6.3% plus 1.95% in Australia; partnership deals are negotiated. Resident Advisor no longer publishes its fee; its last known rate is 10%, card processing included. Shotgun does not publish fees. - Like-for-like: where a competitor's fee includes card processing, add Stripe's standard rate (2.9% + $0.30 US, 1.5% + €0.25 EU, 1.5% + £0.20 UK, 1.7% + A$0.30 AU) to the Hi.Events fee before comparing. On a £30 ticket that is £1.48 on Hi.Events against £2.68 on Eventbrite and £3.27 on Skiddle. - [Pricing](https://hi.events/pricing): Cloud fees and self-hosted licences. - [Eventbrite fee calculator](https://hi.events/eventbrite-fee-calculator): US fee comparison by ticket price and volume. - [Ticketing platform fees compared](https://hi.events/fees): what 15 platforms charge per paid ticket in USD, EUR, GBP and AUD, card processing counted on every row, cheapest first on a 20, 50 and 100 ticket, and which platform is cheapest at each price. One page per platform at https://hi.events/fees/{slug} (eventbrite, humanitix, dice, resident-advisor, skiddle, fatsoma, ticketsource, universe, luma, tito, trybooking, pretix, zeffy, posh) with the fee by country, a calculator against Hi.Events, payout terms and sources. - [Ticketing platform payouts compared](https://hi.events/ticketing-platform-payouts): all 15 platforms sorted by when you are paid (as tickets sell, before the event on request, after the event) and who holds the money. Hi.Events settles card payments into your own Stripe account as tickets sell, on your Stripe payout schedule; it never holds the money. - [Event ticket price calculator](https://hi.events/event-ticket-price-calculator): works out a ticket price, break-even point and early bird tiers from an event's costs, capacity and profit goal. - [Seating chart maker](https://hi.events/free-seating-chart-maker): free drag-and-drop wedding and event seating plans with guest names, plus a printable welcome sign listing every table. - [Event capacity calculator](https://hi.events/free-event-capacity-calculator): venue capacity by floor area and layout. ## Posts - [Posts](https://hi.events/posts): guides, interactive tools and engineering write-ups from the Hi.Events team. - [What it actually costs to sell a €20 ticket](https://hi.events/posts/what-it-costs-to-sell-a-20-ticket): one ticket followed through every platform Hi.Events tracks, with card processing counted on every row and VAT left out. On a €20 ticket in Ireland, Hi.Events costs the organiser €1.30 all-in and Eventbrite €1.97; pretix (€1.05) and Tito (€1.15) are cheaper at that price, and Hi.Events is cheaper than both from about €40 to about €1,160. Includes where the fixed per-ticket fee changes which platform is cheapest. - [How many people do you need on the door?](https://hi.events/posts/how-many-people-on-the-door): a door queue simulator. One person scanning handles about 3,600 ÷ seconds per person each hour (about 400 an hour at 9 seconds). When a crowd arrives at once, cutting each check-in from 9 seconds to 4 clears the queue sooner than doubling the number of scanners. - [Recurring events are harder than they look](https://hi.events/posts/recurring-events-are-harder-than-they-look): how Hi.Events stores recurring schedules as local time plus time zone, handles clock changes, skipped and repeated hours, months without a 31st, and schedule changes after tickets are sold. ## Key pages - [Sell tickets online](https://hi.events/sell-tickets-online): how selling tickets on Hi.Events works, fees by market, and answers to first-time sellers' questions. - [Homepage](https://hi.events/): product overview with demos of the event page, checkout, check-in and reports. - [Event ticketing software](https://hi.events/event-ticketing-software): what the category does, fees, the full feature list, and a page for each kind of event. - [Switch fund](https://hi.events/switch): organizers already selling elsewhere who move their next event to Hi.Events and sell at least 50 tickets are paid €250 no later than 10 days after it. Places are limited and approved by hand; full terms on the page. ## Selling from your own website Hi.Events widgets put ticket selection and checkout on any page that can hold a few lines of HTML (a script tag and a div, pasted together in one block on most site builders). There are five kinds: Tickets, a Button that opens tickets in a pop-up, Lineup, Schedule, and an organizer-level Events list. Widgets are saved with their settings (colors, corner radius, which tickets, checkout in a pop-up or a new tab, language), so later changes reach every page that uses them, and each saved widget shows its views, orders and conversion. When checkout opens in the pop-up, the widget fires an hievents:order-completed event on the host page for analytics. - [Sell tickets on your website](https://hi.events/sell-tickets-on-your-website): how the widget works, what the buyer sees, what it costs, and a page per site builder. - [Sell tickets on WordPress](https://hi.events/sell-tickets-on-wordpress): Custom HTML block in the block editor, no plugin; which roles and WordPress.com plans can add script tags. - [Sell tickets on Squarespace](https://hi.events/sell-tickets-on-squarespace): Code block plus header code injection; which Squarespace plans allow JavaScript. - [Sell tickets on Wix](https://hi.events/sell-tickets-on-wix): Embed HTML element, which is an iframe, so the code goes in one box with a fixed height and checkout is set to open in a new tab. - [Sell tickets on Webflow](https://hi.events/sell-tickets-on-webflow): Embed element plus head code in Site settings. - [Sell tickets on Shopify](https://hi.events/sell-tickets-on-shopify): Custom Liquid section in the theme editor, script in theme.liquid; no ticketing app needed. - [Sell tickets on Framer](https://hi.events/sell-tickets-on-framer): an Embed component with the code in its HTML tab; scripts only run on the published site, not in the editor. ## By kind of event Each page shows how that kind of event usually sets up its tickets on Hi.Events, what the product does and does not do for it, and answers to the questions that audience asks. - [Concert ticketing](https://hi.events/concert-ticketing): promoters, bands and venues.
